It makes you feel good- No Lie, It’s Scientific!

When you smile, your body releases Neurotransmitters called endorphins. Endorphins allow our brains to feel happier and more relaxed about every day stressors. When endorphins are released it begins to reduce a chemical in your body called cortisol. This allows you to feel relief from being stressed.

It can make you more attractive. And possibly get you that Raise!

Why We Love Smiles

Smiling is contagious. When you smile people view you as more approachable. Because smiling makes you more approachable it shows a sense of confidence, which others will find more attractive and be drawn too. It can even make interaction with coworkers and your boss more enjoyable. People view smiling as positive energy. Developing healthy relationships with colleagues and being seen in a favorable light by your employer just might be what make them want to keep you around.

It makes you more trust worthy.

In today’s society it is hard to know who to trust, especially when it comes to business. However, the body views smiling as a signal which tells us who is generous, and who is willing to share that little extra with you. A study was conducted and found that a smile increased the willingness of a person by around 10%. This could be a great sales technique for that used car salesmen.

You will be less likely to get sick!

When you smile your body produces white blood cells which in turn boost your Immune system. Your immune system is what prevents your body from getting sick and also helps you get better. Don’t believe us, watch the movie “Patch Adams”, where Robin Williams brings laughter into the lives of the sick and dying.

It’s Contagious!

Studies suggest that about 50% of people will reciprocate your smiling face, even if it is fake! This means that you can smile at a stranger, who will smile back with no reason to smile other than your beautiful face! The amazing part is that barely anyone responds to a frown.

To summarize, you’ll feel good, those around you will be happier, you’ll be less likely to get sick, you become more trustworthy and convincing, you’ll become more attractive and possibly even more successful. So, next time the person walking past you tells you to smile, you might just want too.
